Poker is a great casino game as not only can it be played in a variety of different settings but its concept enables it to be adapted into a variety of different versions as well. The number of poker game varieties is incredible and more continue to be brought onto the market on a continuous basis. One of the older versions of poker is known as the Three Card Poker. Invented in the early 1990’s Three Card Poker was taken from the 3-Card Brag casino game, where here players play against the house rather than against other players. With this inspiration, Three Card Poker was introduced into the American market and is also sometimes referred to as Tri-Poker. In order to understand how this game works, the rules are outlined below.
Three Card Poker is played using a standard 52-card deck. Players have the option of placing one of two bets or even both if they wish to. The Ante bet is required in order to participate in the game – this is the initial bet. This is a way of your betting that your hand is going to beat the dealers. Second to this, players can choose to place a Pair Plus bet. If you choose to place this bet as well, then you are betting on the quality of your hand (this is paid separately regardless of the dealer’s hand). The ranking of the cards in Three Card Poker is not unlike other poker games. In ascending order it is as follows; high card, pair, flush, straight, three-of-a-kind and a straight flush as the highest possible combination.
Three cards are dealt out to the player and three to the dealer himself. At this point, as the player you can choose whether to fold subsequently losing all your bets or make a call bet by placing an additional wager equal to your ante bet. This is where the showdown occurs where both hands are revealed to show which has won. The pay table will vary depending on the casino so it is important to look at it before playing to ensure the payouts are what you expect.
